Lynora's
Lynora's Market on South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach is a worthy stop among the many choices around. It follows previous openings on Clematis Street in town and another location in Jupiter. This spot is noteworthy for (besides its food) the mid twentieth century ambiance. It's an old service station that has been converted, and its red and white decor is very retro cool.
There are only only a handful of tables: some inside, a few outside out front, and one of the north side by the parking lot. You order at the register after peering into the deli case at the daily specials. Most recently, two were lobster and chicken ravioli. There are sandwiches, salads, antipasto, pasta, and entrees like Pollo Francese. I had the fettucine bolognese with sides of spinach soaked in garlic sauce and meatballs. The Abbenante family is famous for their pizzas as well, fired in a custom made oven. You can't go wrong with any of them. I haven't tried the desserts but hear good things. I was happy to find some Peroni red label beer there.
It's a neighborhood spot, and I love watching folks walking over. The feel is warm yet ever so slightly upscale. Most of the customers are well heeled, likely from the beautiful historic sections East of Dixie, but there is nothing stuffy about the place. Many come in for to go orders.
