La Goulue

Last December my wife and I joined our frequent dinner companions J & A for a Saturday night at La Goulue, a dandy French restaurant in Palm Beach.  It occupies a space on the southwest corner of Royal Palm Way and South County Road.  Many a bistro has been there in the decades I've lived in these parts.  I couldn't name them all off the top of my head.  It is a prime spot.   Highly visible.

The ambience is as elegant as ever.  It of course was packed on our night.  We sat by the open windows facing S.County.  Several luxury vehicles pulled up to the valet just beyond.  Didn't see too many eccentric folks that night.  Definitely not the type you see on that silly Netflix series Members Only: Palm Beach. which, by the way is totally bogus about "The Island" and its residents.  Trust me.

A and I shared the foie gras.  Expectedly excellent, almost as good as what I had in France fifteen or so years ago.  Too decadent and expensive for me to have very often.  My entree: Carpaccio de Boeuf, a Black Angus tenderloin with dijon mustard, truffle shavings, Parmesan, and arugula.  Very good.  My wife had the Tartare Aux Deux Saumons, salmon with lemon dill cream.  Mmmm. We had some leftovers.

Our friends knew there were some offerings for dessert that were off the (tempting) menu.  Including this...
The Snowman.  He's made of white chocolate over milk chocolate and caramel mousse. Gumdrop hat.  Oh what fun! Our waitress reported that twenty five had been requested the day before. I'm not sure if he's still available. Either way, a lovely time awaits at La Goulue.
