Sweat Records
On the way to see Wilco in Miami Beach last April my friends and I diverted over to Little Haiti to visit Sweat Records, an independent that has served the public since 2005. One of those friends - the one who requested this side trip - owns a record store in Baltimore called The Sound Garden, which you should also check out. He was like a kid on Christmas morning when he spoke with two very friendly staff members at Sweat. A real kinship to be witnessed. Fun to listen to.
The selection of vinyl is excellent. The World Music section is as comprehensive as I've seen. Expansive Funk collection, too. You can find cassettes and some used CDs. Turntables. They buy all forms of media aside from DVDs. If your record collection exceeds five hundred they'll come to you for an appraisal.
There are several in-store events. If I lived down that way I'd be at several of them.
Worth the trip, especially for, but not limited to, music lovers. Too good to only go to on Record Store Day.
