Christmas Day 2024
Wishing all my readers (both of you) a very Merry Christmas! Hope your season has been bright. Every year the memories come fast. Many are warm, many are tearstained. I guess this holiday becomes more difficult as you get older, even if you have young ones with whom to make new memories. All those folks from our early years will forever loom large as we hear the familiar songs and gaze upon the lights, sure to spark a recollection.
I think of my mother, always decorating our houses from front to back. My father and I putting up the outside lights. How I miss them. I also remember spending at least one Christmas Eve and morning at my grandparents'. I think I was six? I can still see that Big Wheel in front of their little (maybe 4-5') tree.
The excitement! I took that baby for a spin as soon as everything was unwrapped. It lasted a few years, until I took one too many wild spins/turns and it came apart. Lotsa stunts, many ill-advised. Good times. I never had a Green Machine, though.
Thank you for taking the time to gaze at this brief post on my obscure blog. I hope you find some joy today and on through the new year.
