I Never Thought it Would Happen
Podcast rec. for you. "I Never Thought it Would Happen" is hosted by Chris Difford of the band Squeeze. He interviews a variety of musicians, mostly British (Sting, Gavin Rossdale, Nick Lowe) but also the likes of Henry Rollins and Nile Rodgers. His format allows template questions about musical influences on the guest, what was in their childhood bedroom, etc. Some great memories are relayed with plenty of insight, never whitewashed. Difford himself is plenty honest about his past addictions.
What makes it all even better is that Chris is major supporter of Help Musicians, a hundred year old organization in the U.K. that offers financial support for any musician who needs it, whether it is music related or otherwise. Each episode pauses to feature a young artist who has benefitted from HM.
