Your Audiology Tutorial: Captioning

As the use of virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom has become increasingly popular over the past few years (even without a global pandemic) for meetings, telehealth appointments, etc., associated captioning services for the hearing impaired are essential.  

1. Web Captioner: Free.  A web based multi-lingual speech recognition tool that displays real time transcription. It uses Google's implantation of the Web Speech API.   Often, it works with tools a user may already have (a microphone is necessary).  Can be used with a PC, Mac, or Chromebook using Google Chrome.

2. InnoCaption: Also free, it allows those with hearing loss the ability to use their mobile device with real time captioning.   Automated speech recognition software and live stenographers provide ensured accuracy.
